October heralds the annual red deer rut. It’s been on my radar for a while and this is the year I finally dragged myself out of bed and headed to the Royal parks of London. Ample stag-bravado has been on display, with the sound of bellowing echoing through the parks. But tactical retreats have been the order of the day and antlers have rarely locked.
It really is a great spectacle to witness and photograph. Unfortunately the popularity of Richmond and Bushy Parks means it’s difficult to get away from fellow photographers and find some sort of solitude. Nevertheless, I’m sure it’ll be something I return to many times.
